Upside-down question mark (¿) and exclamation mark (¡): copy and paste

Upside-down question mark · Unicode U+00BF / U+00A1 · HTML ¿ ¡

The inverted question mark (¿) and inverted exclamation mark (¡) open questions and exclamations in Spanish, so the reader knows the tone before the sentence ends: ¿Cómo estás? ¡Hola!

Place them at the start of the question or exclamation itself, which can be mid-sentence: Si vienes, ¿me avisas? Outside Spanish they also appear in Galician, Asturian and Waray, and informally in English as the interrobang alternative.
